Dr. Rivers first fell in love with the mountain lifestyle ever since his first trip from Missouri to Silverthorne with the church youth group ski trip in 2000. After emerging through the Eisenhower tunnel and gazing upon the beauty of Lake Dillon, he made a conscious decision that he would live and work in the mountains of Colorado.
Having always had a passion for dentistry from a very young age, he also has always known that he wanted to help real people with their dental care at the highest level.
Having started his career in Montrose, CO and experiencing the best things that the Western Slope has to offer, he was excited to transition from Montrose to Basalt in April of 2017 and has been a mid-valley resident ever since. 5 years serving the underserved at our community health center (Mountain Family Health Centers) provided great experience and a new lens by which to deliver care.
Dr. Rivers acquired Today’s Family Dental from Dr. Mark Cook, DDS in April 2022 with a clear vision: to create the area’s premier destination for comfortable, high-quality dental care. Since then, he has transformed the practice into a place where patients feel completely at ease, knowing they’re receiving great care, comfortably. Dr. Rivers earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois in 2015. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rockhurst University, Kansas City’s prestigious Jesuit school, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology.
